Mycket Spanska

Tjena!  What a packed week. We had: A BAPTISM!!! - his name is *Daniel, he only speaks Spanish, and I was lucky enough to be here to teach him the last couple lessons before his baptism!! For each lesson, we would have a member who could translate Swedish to Spanish there-- and then we did the entire baptism in Spanish!! (So I understood absolutely nothing, haha.)  But he's awesome, he's super faithful, and he loves the Book of Mormon. It's pretty sweet. SPLITS WITH THE LEADS!! - We went on splits, and I met a guy who taught me how to write my name in Arabic! We also taught the Plan of Salvation to a guy who thought it was incredibly interesting. So that was fun.  A TRIP TO THE TEMPLE IN STOCKHOLM ON THE VERY LAST DAY IT WAS OPEN BEFORE CLOSING FOR CONSTRUCTION!! - It was awesome. They were doing a bunch of extra sessions so that as many people as possible could have the chance to be there.  A BENCH MARK!! I hit my nine months today! Super crazy. #halfwaydone H...

I look like an elf

Hejsan!  What a packed week. I moved to Stockholm, said goodbye to some awesome people in Lund, and met a million new people here--whether that be in the ward, on the tunnelbana, or on the street.  My new companion's name is Syster Bagley and she's awesome! She's from Utah, and has been here in Gubbängen for two transfers already.  This week's highlights AND lowlights (Which is which? Player's choice.):  - I ate a whole bunch of halloumi (grilled cheese ?) on multiple occasions. - In the middle of a lesson with two people we were meeting for the first time, one of them interrupted the conversation and said "I'm really sorry but there's just something I need to say. You look like an elf." And immediately after, her friend said "Woaahhh...you know what? You REALLY do. I couldn't put my finger on it but that's exactly right!"  - We taught a lesson in Swedish, which was then translated into Spanish by one of the members in our ward f...

20 Hours on the Train

Tjena tjena!  This past week we had both a mission tour conference in Göteborg, and then MLC in Stockholm! It was chaos--and it feels like I was hardly in my own area!  And it was a LOT of time spent on the train.  But it was fun.  In the time that I WAS in Lund, we were able to have an awesome lesson with a guy who we met by knocking doors. He has read quite a few chapters of the Book of Mormon at this point, and told us that he doesn't know if he has faith yet-- but that he wants to! Which is an amazing start. Anybody who has even a desire to believe, a desire to have faith, or a desire to find truth--can find peace and clarity in the doctrine of Jesus Christ. And it's something we can develop over time as we do just small acts to try and come closer to Him.  Other cool events that happened: - We had fast and testimony meeting in church yesterday, and one of our investigators was incredibly touched by some of the brave kids that went up to share their t...

A Week Survived

Hejsan!  This week had quite a few difficulties. Can't lie.   And that doesn't mean that it was unsuccessful, it doesn't mean that we failed, but it DOES mean that character was built.  That being said, here's a little glimpse of our series of unfortunate events: - Our little family couldn't get baptized yesterday. - A phone was lost--BUT THEN FOUND. So that was good. - A lesson we were psyched for ended up canceling last minute.  - Many other lessons canceled. - A homeless guy kissed my hand.  But there were also good times!  - We went on Splits with the Systers in Malmö, which was fun! - We gave out 3 Book of Mormons on the street.  - We got to teach ANOTHER religion class at a high school, which was fun, and gave out like 6 Book of Mormons after that as well!  - We bought a devils food cake mix, which is hard to come by here in Sweden, and ate it. It tasted SO American. It was great. - We got ice cream at a cute little shop here in Lund that ma...
