Maria 1 and 2

 Gott nytt år!

I hope all is well with everyone.

This past week was good, per usual. I have a great companion, a great area, and I officially hit my six month mark!

We met with a lot of people who come from the Islam faith this week, and it's been an interesting challenge to convince them of the divinity of Christ. They like a lot of the doctrines we talk about-- but Christ being the Savior and redeemer of the world is a unique stumbling block for them. Which is, as we know, pretty much the #1 most important truth! We're working on it.

We also met with a woman named Maria, but not the Maria we THOUGHT we were meeting.
A week or two ago, Syster Kearns contacted an adorable old woman from Hungary (Maria), and she began crying when we talked about God with her. She really wanted to meet with us! It was a miracle. Unfortunately-- we wrote down her number incorrectly, and haven't been able to get in touch. Which is incredibly disappointing, but it happens.
About a week later, we got a text from someone named Maria who said she wanted to meet! We thought it was the woman from Hungary, and we were SUPER excited and hyped at the fact that she somehow found our information to text us!
When we showed up to meet her, we quickly found that it was a different woman I had met on the bus two weeks earlier (also named Maria), who wanted to preach to us about how we understand the Bible incorrectly. We were stuck with her for an hour an a half, and it was definitely not our happiest surprise.😂

The mission is full of great experiences, big and small, and I'm grateful to have been out for the 6 months that I've served. My Swedish continues to improve, slowly and steadily, and I've seen my own testimony grow exponentially.

I have one year of Sweden left, and I can't wait!

Celebrating my six month mark with naturgodis! There's no other way to celebrate.

Celebratory falafel for the new year! Okay, I guess there's two ways to celebrate.

Door knocking in the rain. Yay.

End of an Era

Hej!  This past week has been great. As always, we've seen miracles. And weird things, too! But I'm just absolutely filled with gratitude to be a servant of the Lord. Especially this past week, for some reason. This week we: -had an awesome lesson with a young Father, who's just trying to mend his relationship with God. Very pure.  - taught our friend *Anna and her 18 year-old son about prayer.  - made breakfast and watched general conference with our members and our friends on Sunday morning. #swedishvåfflor  - gave out a Book of Mormon in Persian to a sweet old lady who tried to speak Persian to us for like 10 minutes.  - got to have a great lesson with our friend *Marianne, and she had a lot of great questions about conference.  - got to eat some homemade rulltårta with one of our friends and his family. Very cute.  - had in-person distriktsråd and the Elders made us lunch. It was like a finish version of baked macaroni and cheese.  - fi...

High highs and low lows

Hejsan!  Vilken vecka asså!  It feels like SO many things happened. For better or for worse, haha!  A Monday night miracle:  We went out to talk to people at 7 pm--when it's cold and dark--and ran into one of the most prepared people I've ever met on my mission. His name is *Mitch, and we caught him right after he left the gym.  We asked him what gives him hope, and he didn't know. So he returned the question, and Syster Rollins explained that our hope comes from our faith in God and Jesus Christ.  He immediately lit up, and we told him about why we were in Sweden and some details about our church. He was very interested, and we met with him on Saturday!  The best lesson ever: We gave him a tour around the church, which he loved, and then taught him about the Restoration. He had awesome questions! By the end of the lesson, he said that: 1) God gives us the gift of discernment so that we can know what comes from Jesus Christ, and what doesn't. An...

Finding Week

Hey everyone!  This week we did a lot of finding. Which essentially means that we went out on the streets, and talked to many, many people. Good and interesting! We talked to: - an old woman who said that she's always wondered what the meaning of life is, and has never gotten a good answer. We had good news! - A young girl who excitedly asked us what we were doing, and told us that she believes in Christ!  - An orthodox Christian who told us that we are going to hell for what we believe. Oof.  - A man who said he's never grown up in religion, but thinks its interesting to talk about. - A man from Latvia who said he's been to heaven and there's no God there. Very confusing.  - A cute girl on the tunnelbana who was very excited to take a Book of Mormon! She said she had just started going to church a couple weeks ago. And I also met a lot of people who said that knowing there is a God would change absolutely nothing for them in their lives. Which really surprise...
