The Fruits of the Fast

Hej!  This week, our ward began a 40 day fast for missionsarbete (missionary work), and the miracles that have come from that...have been astounding. Truly. How it works, is each family in our ward is assigned one day over the next 40 days to fast. And then, at the end of the day, both us and the Elders in our ward send them the miracles we saw that day as a result of their fast.  It would take ages to type out every miracle we've experienced this week, but I'll do my best to give everyone a little glimpse of the magic we've seen.  Wednesday: Day 1 of the Fast - We met not one, not two, but three new people to teach!  - I gave out a Book of Mormon to a nice guy on the bus. - Syster Taylor was able to testify of God's love to a girl on the bus and almost brought her to tears. Thursday: Day 2 - Me and Syster Taylor were asked last minute to go and give another school presentation about our religion. In this one, we followed along with Felicia (a 10 year old memb...

No Separation of Church and State

Hej hej hej!  I'm not sure whether it was a fast week or a slow week, but it was definitely a week.  Notable instances:  - A couple weeks back, Syster Taylor and I got a call from a random number. It was a teacher, from a high school here in Lund, and he asked us to give his religion class a presentation about our faith! With much enthusiasm--we accepted! We gave that presentation on Friday, accompanied by a member in the ward named Samuel. It was great! We essentially taught the class about the Restoration and the Plan of Salvation, and then hit other key points about our church that make us unique--such as modern-day prophets. The teacher and the class (of 5 students, haha) asked us a lot of questions as we went. About homosexuality, marriage, life after death, chastity, and then--why we are a part of this church. It was a great opportunity to bear testimony, and the spirit was definitely there.  After class, we put a bunch of pamphlets and Book of Mormons o...

A Week of Much Travel

Tjena!  This past week was kinda crazy. Much happened.  Most notably, we had a mission-wide conference in Stockholm where we got to listen to ELDER HOLLAND speak to us, and then we went to the temple. It pretty much can't get better than that.  I got to be in the front row of the meeting with Elder Holland, quite literally sitting about ten feet away from him. Ten feet away from an apostle of the Lord. He could have spit on me if he wanted to! It was awesome.  He spoke to us about the importance of the Book of Mormon, and said that "However much you're using the Book of Mormon, you're not using it enough." It was a wake up call to teach from the scriptures, because it's the power of the scriptures that really invites the spirit into our lives, and into our lessons.  And just like it states in the title page of the Book of Mormon, "a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book." We cannot take the reality and the tr...

A Dopy Week

Hallå alla!  What an interesting and eventful week we've had!  1) We did quite a bit of service to help prepare for the ELDERS we have now!! That's right, transfers came around...so Syster Taylor and I will keep boogying here in Lund, but we're sharing our ward with Äldster now as well! You know your area is popping off when you need MORE missionaries just to keep up!   2) We started practice for Sankta Lucia, which takes place in early December. We have to learn a bunch of traditional Swedish songs that are incredibly high in key. Pray for us. Specifically, our vocal chords.  3) *MASON GOT BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY! He had his baptismal interview on Thursday, got baptized on Saturday, and then received the gift of the Holy Ghost on Sunday!!! It was amazing.  All you guys need to know about *Mason is that he was a self-referral to the missionaries. He came to us, wanting to change his life. And now he has.  He was baptized by a man that's over 60 yea...
