A Week of Much Travel

 Tjena!

This past week was kinda crazy. Much happened.
Most notably, we had a mission-wide conference in Stockholm where we got to listen to ELDER HOLLAND speak to us, and then we went to the temple. It pretty much can't get better than that.

I got to be in the front row of the meeting with Elder Holland, quite literally sitting about ten feet away from him. Ten feet away from an apostle of the Lord. He could have spit on me if he wanted to! It was awesome.
He spoke to us about the importance of the Book of Mormon, and said that "However much you're using the Book of Mormon, you're not using it enough." It was a wake up call to teach from the scriptures, because it's the power of the scriptures that really invites the spirit into our lives, and into our lessons.
And just like it states in the title page of the Book of Mormon, "a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book." We cannot take the reality and the truths of the Book of Mormon for granted. They are PRECIOUS.

Anywho, to address the title of this here email:
- The travel to Stockholm took about 5 hours, and then we did the same trip back the very next day. 10 hours of train in two days. YEESH. Worth it though!
- Last P-day, me and Syster Taylor accidentally missed our bus back to the city and had to wait an hour and a half in the rain for the next one. I suppose in this case, it was a LACK of travel that was the problem.
-On Thursday, Syster Taylor and I were talking to different people while we waited for our bus, and had a miscommunication...I thought we were taking bus 4, but we were supposed to take bus 2--and so she hopped on bus 2 while I was still talking and rode away.😂 We were only separated for like 10 minutes but it was really funny. We were just staring at each other in shock through the window while the bus disappeared.
-On Friday, we traveled to Helsingborg, but then when we were trying to travel back--all of the trains got canceled! And somehow, to take the bus back to Lund would have gotten us home at 1:30 in the morning. We still got home late, but thankfully much earlier than we WOULD have thanks to some members who gave us a ride home.

Some other noteworthy events:
-Our friend who just got baptized has been handing out our cards to practically everyone he knows. Last time we spoke with him, he told us he gave our card to his doctor. He's officially the best missionary in our ward!
-One of our friends was being a little ominous, and then texted us and said that he's "attracted to one of us." Very unfortunate. But on the bright side, we have another referral for the elders.😁
-One of our friends said he wants to be baptized, but we found out about 20 minutes later that he goes to the church of scientology every week....hmm
-Syster Taylor made chicken soup on national chicken soup day, and I contributed some homemade dinner rolls. It was awesome.
-A member of our ward did språk studie with us and it was a great reminder that I don't know how to speak Swedish.

I hope everyone is having a grand old time!

Stockholm temple: nighttime edition! We were in too much of a rush to leave for our train the next day to get a picture when it wasn't dark. Tragic.

Iconic bakery right next to the temple. A masterpiece.

Stuck in Helsingborg central station after all the trains got canceled.

No backstory here. Just a regular day, waiting for the bus.

Everything Cancelled

Tjena!  Everything cancelled this week. Oops. That's alright. Literally everyone is sick it feels like! Whatcha gonna do. We spent quite a bit of time on the street, and... - gave out two Book of Mormons in a Arabic! - gave out a Book of Mormon in Ukrainian! - accidentally met a homeless man with no teeth that had recently thrown up and was gnawing on a rotisserie chicken wing. It was a little traumatizing to be honest💀 - met a man who tried to recruit us into joining his pyramid scheme - took a selfie with a woman from Cambodia who wanted a picture with Americans  We also: - spent an hour trying to match up three huge bags of socks #service - had a game night, and failed to teach some Sri Lankan men how to play UNO  - found a disgusting bug in our butter - read 3 Nephi 11 with our friend and it was awesome  - went on Splits with the Örebro sisters! Quick scripture: 1 Peter 5:6-7 "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you...

One week left?!?

Tjena! What a crazy time. I love our ward, I love our friends, and I love the snow that we're getting.  This past week we didn't have as many lessons, but the lessons we DID have were golden. 1) We're teaching a Swedish girl about our age and invited a member along. Turns out they work at the same place! It was awesome, they got along great.  2) We had a lesson with our friend *Mont, and talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He said that he would love to be baptized, but just needs to grow his faith a little more. His biggest problem is that our doctrine sounds "too perfect to be true." We love him!  3) We had a lesson with our friend *Mitch, and taught him about the Gospel of Jesus Christ as well!! At the end we asked him if he'd be interested in baptism, and he said absolutely. He then picked January 14th!! #miracle  PLUS-- *Mont and his wife even came to our ward Christmas party, and the ward loved them. It was awesome.  I'll be coming home next Mon...

Vill du bli döpt?

Hej everybody! Sorry I didn't get the chance to email last week, but on the bright side, SO MUCH has happened since you last heard from me that this email is about to be loaded.  First things first, MY SWEDISH DISTRICT CAME LAST WEDNESDAY! I had been doing classes with them online: --And it was super fun, but being with them in person is FAR better... (Shout out to  Äldste Vander Linden, who brought us all sun tanning glasses so that our mission photos, going forward, can be that much more epic).  We started learning Swedish, too, which has definitely been a challenge. BUT, we are very determined to get it down, and we have already done not one, but TWO english fasts (we went without speaking english for 8 hours). We did our first one on Saturday, which went horribly--but then did another one yesterday, and we could already see SO MUCH improvement in our Swedish. It's hard to believe that one day, maybe, hopefully, possibly, I will be completely fluent.  ...
