Hej då SLC!

 Hallå alla!

I'm currently sitting in the Salt Lake City Airport, waiting to board my plane to New York. And then Sweden!

I suppose I'll take advantage of this opportunity to reflect on the FIRE last week I had in Salt Lake City South.

Item of business number one: Sister Tolman joined me and Sister Hendrix's companionship last week. And she is AWESOME. We were only companions for one (1) week, but I am SO grateful to have met her.

Item of business number two: We found FOUR new people to teach!
- Ben*, who is from Beverly Hills. He grew up Jewish, but his wife is a member of our church, and we taught him a lesson about why we're here on earth.
- Pete*, who currently believes that we were dinosaurs before we began this life. (We're working on that).
- Connor*, who is super curious and open to learning. He's an awesome kid. We were teaching him a lesson in the park last week when a toothless, crippled old lady wheeled over to us and started yelling at us for teaching him. Spit was flying, and she threatened to report us (for what?). It was hilarious.
- Kristen*, who is super sweet, and really wants to get baptized.

It was a great way to end my time here in the Salt Lake City South mission.

I know this gospel is true. I know Jesus Christ lives. And I know we have a Heavenly Father who loves us, and knows us individually.

Some things that made me happy:
-Pete*'s mom works at the Cheesecake Factory, and brought me a slice of the Chocolate Tower Truffle cake when we went over to teach him.
-A church game night we went to had crumbl cookies! I won't have those for a long time.
(-Is it pathetic that the first two things on this list are dessert-related?)
-I realized this week that I'll be able to visit the members I've met here after my mission!
-My district drove over to our apartment to say goodbye to me last night. I'll miss them.
-If anybody remembers Clark* from last week's email...he came to church yesterday! Yay!
-I got permission to eat dinner with my biological sisters last Monday before leaving for Sweden.

I'm excited for what's ahead. Sweden's ahead!

Have a good week everyone.

End of an Era

Hej!  This past week has been great. As always, we've seen miracles. And weird things, too! But I'm just absolutely filled with gratitude to be a servant of the Lord. Especially this past week, for some reason. This week we: -had an awesome lesson with a young Father, who's just trying to mend his relationship with God. Very pure.  - taught our friend *Anna and her 18 year-old son about prayer.  - made breakfast and watched general conference with our members and our friends on Sunday morning. #swedishvåfflor  - gave out a Book of Mormon in Persian to a sweet old lady who tried to speak Persian to us for like 10 minutes.  - got to have a great lesson with our friend *Marianne, and she had a lot of great questions about conference.  - got to eat some homemade rulltårta with one of our friends and his family. Very cute.  - had in-person distriktsråd and the Elders made us lunch. It was like a finish version of baked macaroni and cheese.  - fi...

High highs and low lows

Hejsan!  Vilken vecka asså!  It feels like SO many things happened. For better or for worse, haha!  A Monday night miracle:  We went out to talk to people at 7 pm--when it's cold and dark--and ran into one of the most prepared people I've ever met on my mission. His name is *Mitch, and we caught him right after he left the gym.  We asked him what gives him hope, and he didn't know. So he returned the question, and Syster Rollins explained that our hope comes from our faith in God and Jesus Christ.  He immediately lit up, and we told him about why we were in Sweden and some details about our church. He was very interested, and we met with him on Saturday!  The best lesson ever: We gave him a tour around the church, which he loved, and then taught him about the Restoration. He had awesome questions! By the end of the lesson, he said that: 1) God gives us the gift of discernment so that we can know what comes from Jesus Christ, and what doesn't. An...

Finding Week

Hey everyone!  This week we did a lot of finding. Which essentially means that we went out on the streets, and talked to many, many people. Good and interesting! We talked to: - an old woman who said that she's always wondered what the meaning of life is, and has never gotten a good answer. We had good news! - A young girl who excitedly asked us what we were doing, and told us that she believes in Christ!  - An orthodox Christian who told us that we are going to hell for what we believe. Oof.  - A man who said he's never grown up in religion, but thinks its interesting to talk about. - A man from Latvia who said he's been to heaven and there's no God there. Very confusing.  - A cute girl on the tunnelbana who was very excited to take a Book of Mormon! She said she had just started going to church a couple weeks ago. And I also met a lot of people who said that knowing there is a God would change absolutely nothing for them in their lives. Which really surprise...
