IT'S HOT

 Hej there everyone!

This past week, as you might have guessed based on the subject line, was SO HOT. Holy goodness, me.
I learned two things from that trial:
1. I don't like the heat.
2. Black bike seats get SCORCHING when they sit out in the sun. Hot enough that you have to bike standing up to spare yourself the pain. Otherwise your caboose will be SUFFERING.

I know it's a shocker, but I have yet to hear from Salt Lake about my travel plans to Sweden. (It's actually not a shocker. This is an official petition for them to get it together.)

Anywho, last week was honestly a struggle. It was hot, I was tired, and I kid you not when I say that every nonmember lesson we had ended up cancelling on us. Or not answering the door. Or not responding. Additionally, one of the people we had on date for baptism backed out, and doesn't want to meet with us anymore.
BUT, the existence of trials does not mean that there are no miracles.

To name a few:
- I didn't pass out on fast Sunday while biking in the heat with no sustenance.
- Sister Hendrix and I went to a relief society activity, and there were several nonmembers there who we were able to make plans with for this next coming week!
- We had interviews with the mission president on Tuesday, and Pres. Kotter told me exactly what I needed to hear. He is inspired.
- I went on exchanges with Sister Tyler, who is mega cool, and NOBODY was answering their doors. So we said a prayer to ask where we should go--and she felt inspired to knock on the door of a part member family. They answered, were happy to visit with us, and set up a time to meet with us next week! The spirit is real.
- That same night, we ran into a member who is best friends with my mission leaders in Sweden! What are the odds !?!
- Our district did service for an old couple, and they made us pancakes and hashbrowns in return. SCORE.
- Testimony meetings were AWESOME yesterday. The spirit was incredibly strong, and I may or may not have shed a tear or two.

I know that Heavenly Father is a God of miracles.
In Ether chapter 3, the brother of Jared asks Heavenly Father to perform a great miracle. And in verse 5, he says:
"Behold, O Lord, thou canst do this. We know that thou art able to show forth great power, which looks small unto the understanding of men."

I think a lot of times, we miss the miracles in our lives because we're searching for something big. Something huge, that stops us in our tracks.
But there are miracles all around us.
SO DON'T DISREGARD THE MIRACLES IN YOUR LIFE, JUST BECAUSE THEY "LOOK SMALL." They are wrought by great power, and they are evidence of God's hand in our lives.

Have a great week everyone, and look for His hand in the small things!

End of an Era

Hej!  This past week has been great. As always, we've seen miracles. And weird things, too! But I'm just absolutely filled with gratitude to be a servant of the Lord. Especially this past week, for some reason. This week we: -had an awesome lesson with a young Father, who's just trying to mend his relationship with God. Very pure.  - taught our friend *Anna and her 18 year-old son about prayer.  - made breakfast and watched general conference with our members and our friends on Sunday morning. #swedishvåfflor  - gave out a Book of Mormon in Persian to a sweet old lady who tried to speak Persian to us for like 10 minutes.  - got to have a great lesson with our friend *Marianne, and she had a lot of great questions about conference.  - got to eat some homemade rulltårta with one of our friends and his family. Very cute.  - had in-person distriktsråd and the Elders made us lunch. It was like a finish version of baked macaroni and cheese.  - fi...

High highs and low lows

Hejsan!  Vilken vecka asså!  It feels like SO many things happened. For better or for worse, haha!  A Monday night miracle:  We went out to talk to people at 7 pm--when it's cold and dark--and ran into one of the most prepared people I've ever met on my mission. His name is *Mitch, and we caught him right after he left the gym.  We asked him what gives him hope, and he didn't know. So he returned the question, and Syster Rollins explained that our hope comes from our faith in God and Jesus Christ.  He immediately lit up, and we told him about why we were in Sweden and some details about our church. He was very interested, and we met with him on Saturday!  The best lesson ever: We gave him a tour around the church, which he loved, and then taught him about the Restoration. He had awesome questions! By the end of the lesson, he said that: 1) God gives us the gift of discernment so that we can know what comes from Jesus Christ, and what doesn't. An...

Finding Week

Hey everyone!  This week we did a lot of finding. Which essentially means that we went out on the streets, and talked to many, many people. Good and interesting! We talked to: - an old woman who said that she's always wondered what the meaning of life is, and has never gotten a good answer. We had good news! - A young girl who excitedly asked us what we were doing, and told us that she believes in Christ!  - An orthodox Christian who told us that we are going to hell for what we believe. Oof.  - A man who said he's never grown up in religion, but thinks its interesting to talk about. - A man from Latvia who said he's been to heaven and there's no God there. Very confusing.  - A cute girl on the tunnelbana who was very excited to take a Book of Mormon! She said she had just started going to church a couple weeks ago. And I also met a lot of people who said that knowing there is a God would change absolutely nothing for them in their lives. Which really surprise...
