Last Week of MTC!!!

Tjena everybody!

This is my last week at the Missionary Training Center!!

And today, I got an email with my travel information to get to Sweden! Still no visa though. We'll see if I get a reassignment tomorrow. AHH.

This past week has been SO much fun. Our district has grown very close, and our Swedish is slowly, but surely improving.

Some noteworthy events:
  • yesterday, I completely DEMOLISHED my previous record of catching four Swedish fish in my mouth in a row...I caught a whopping 25 m&m's!!! And I didn't even miss on the 26th--we just had to stop so that we could resume class.
  • I decided on a whim to try and break the MTC mile record, AND SUCCEEDED! You have to run it on a tiny indoor track that's in the shape of a square, so that definitely poses an extra challenge--but I ended up running a 5:49, and broke the previous record by 12 seconds! There were people standing in every corner of the track cheering me on, and it was a BLAST.
  • last week was Shark Week (Haj Vecka), and so on friday our teacher made us shark cookies, and we all got to make shark hats. Not to mention, we all wore blue and grey, and played pin the fin on the shark. It was awesome.
  • today is our last day with Sister Ng Wun in our companionship, because her online training is over. Her district, who are all going to the Adriatic South mission along with her, arrives today and she'll get to start doing classes in person with them. I'm excited for her, but it's also bittersweet for us. We'll miss her.
  • One of our MTC teachers, Sister Dorrough, left for Japan today--and so we said goodbye to her yesterday. It's crazy to think that we're almost done with our training here.

Yesterday, I went to a devotional given by S. Mark Palmer about the power of the Book of Mormon and the Holy Ghost. The power of the Book of Mormon is often emphasized to us as missionaries, but I never truly appreciated the impact it has on my life until more recently. As I've been in the MTC, and studied it diligently, I've found that my testimony of the Savior and His Atonement has increased exponentially. I've also found increased strength, peace, and hope--and felt the influence of the Holy Ghost more abundantly.
I have a strong testimony that the Book of Mormon, when read and studied with real intent, can change lives. I've seen it in my own, and I'm incredibly excited to help others partake of the light and truth it has to offer.

My sweet, gracious, and kind mother sent me Crumbl today.

The whole district had to do a wall squat until we each said a sentence in Swedish pertaining to the Fall of Adam and Eve.

Swedish flag was put up at the MTC late last week, so we had to get a photo.

Saying goodbye to Sister Dorrough, who undoubtedly will get engaged when she goes to Japan.

Have a good week everyone! Hopefully I'll be in Sweden the next time you hear from me!

A Busy Sunday

Hello everyone! We're going to hop straight in.  This week we: -Gave out more Books of Mormon on the street and by knocking doors. Always fun.  - Finally met with a really cute family that had been difficult to meet with! - Met with one of Syster Kearns' distant relatives who lives right outside of Lund! They got in contact with one another through ancestry and were able to meet and talk Swedish together! It was actually really cool. Syster Kearns got to explain that it was because of our religion that their common ancestors fled to the US, and is also now the reason why she's back here in Sweden. #fullcircle - Got kicked out of a Svenska Kyrka by a svenska kyrka priest who asked us to take off our name tags. Classy.  - Met a man who had no idea that his wife of 35 years is a member of our church and listened to him explain his deep, complicated, philosophical ideas.  - Got rejected many times on the street. -Had FIVE PEOPLE come to church yesterday! It was IN...

High highs and low lows

Hejsan!  Vilken vecka asså!  It feels like SO many things happened. For better or for worse, haha!  A Monday night miracle:  We went out to talk to people at 7 pm--when it's cold and dark--and ran into one of the most prepared people I've ever met on my mission. His name is *Mitch, and we caught him right after he left the gym.  We asked him what gives him hope, and he didn't know. So he returned the question, and Syster Rollins explained that our hope comes from our faith in God and Jesus Christ.  He immediately lit up, and we told him about why we were in Sweden and some details about our church. He was very interested, and we met with him on Saturday!  The best lesson ever: We gave him a tour around the church, which he loved, and then taught him about the Restoration. He had awesome questions! By the end of the lesson, he said that: 1) God gives us the gift of discernment so that we can know what comes from Jesus Christ, and what doesn't. An...

I'm 20 now

Hej everyone!  Thank you so much for all of the birthday wishes. Very much appreciated.  This week was pretty eventful, actually! Some good stuff: - had Splits on my birthday, where I got to teach one of the best lessons of my mission. I don't know if I've ever seen a person more genuinely touched by the Plan that God has for us. It was awesome. - the sisters we stayed with threw a little party for me when we got back to the apartment that night, which was very cute of them. - I also gave out a Book of Mormon on my birthday, which was sweet! #bestgift - had another lesson with a woman from Ukraine who is really sweet and even reads the BOM on her own!  - ate a lot of naturgodis.  - met a guy on the tunnelbana who's mom was a witch, and we're meeting with him this week!  - ate waffles at Pablo's house yesterday. Some not so good: - Had to block a creepy guy on Facebook.  - had to live-translate our testimony meeting to English, which I am SO terrible at doin...
