Week 2 of English Bliss

 Hej alla!

Big news: MY VISA CAME LAST WEEK!
I'm still waiting to get my travel plans, so I have no idea when I'm leaving. It could be next week, or it could be in 4 weeks. But hey, I'm going to Sweden!!

This past week, I feel I faced quite a bit of rejection. A LOT of the work we do as missionaries is just...finding people. And goodness me, it's almost as if people don't want to be found. But I'm optimistic.

We're teaching a couple of 8-10 year olds who LOVE church, but their parents make it incredibly difficult to schedule appointments, and almost never get them to church. It's frustrating.

It's also frustrating to meet broken people, have the solution to their concerns, and watch them reject what could improve their lives. But that's just part of the job.

Some fun things:
- This past week, Sister Hendrix was kind enough to sit outside so that I can run up and down the street in the mornings. #exercise
- We had zone conference last Wednesday, and I got to sit next to President and Sister Kotter during lunch. They both have southern accents, which I'm a fan of.
- We were informed the other day that the house next to us is being watched by the police because they think they are selling drugs.
- We went to a member dinner on Saturday, and they had invited one of the less active members in the ward (who's trying to become active) over to eat. It was awesome.
- we had district lunch at BDUBS last week, which was a party.
-today we had zone sports, and it was SO fun to play basketball with a bunch of other missionaries.

I'm excited to get to Sweden, but I'm definitely going to miss teaching people in English. EVERYBODY PRAY FOR ME TO DEVELOP THE GIFT OF TONGUES! Just kidding. (No I'm not.)

In 3 Nephi 9:14, it says:
"Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me."

I know that Jesus Christ is the way. He's the way to eternal life, and He's the way to lasting peace and happiness. He is merciful, and He is ready to receive anybody who turns to Him.

Jag älskar er alla!

A Busy Sunday

Hello everyone! We're going to hop straight in.  This week we: -Gave out more Books of Mormon on the street and by knocking doors. Always fun.  - Finally met with a really cute family that had been difficult to meet with! - Met with one of Syster Kearns' distant relatives who lives right outside of Lund! They got in contact with one another through ancestry and were able to meet and talk Swedish together! It was actually really cool. Syster Kearns got to explain that it was because of our religion that their common ancestors fled to the US, and is also now the reason why she's back here in Sweden. #fullcircle - Got kicked out of a Svenska Kyrka by a svenska kyrka priest who asked us to take off our name tags. Classy.  - Met a man who had no idea that his wife of 35 years is a member of our church and listened to him explain his deep, complicated, philosophical ideas.  - Got rejected many times on the street. -Had FIVE PEOPLE come to church yesterday! It was IN...

High highs and low lows

Hejsan!  Vilken vecka asså!  It feels like SO many things happened. For better or for worse, haha!  A Monday night miracle:  We went out to talk to people at 7 pm--when it's cold and dark--and ran into one of the most prepared people I've ever met on my mission. His name is *Mitch, and we caught him right after he left the gym.  We asked him what gives him hope, and he didn't know. So he returned the question, and Syster Rollins explained that our hope comes from our faith in God and Jesus Christ.  He immediately lit up, and we told him about why we were in Sweden and some details about our church. He was very interested, and we met with him on Saturday!  The best lesson ever: We gave him a tour around the church, which he loved, and then taught him about the Restoration. He had awesome questions! By the end of the lesson, he said that: 1) God gives us the gift of discernment so that we can know what comes from Jesus Christ, and what doesn't. An...

I'm 20 now

Hej everyone!  Thank you so much for all of the birthday wishes. Very much appreciated.  This week was pretty eventful, actually! Some good stuff: - had Splits on my birthday, where I got to teach one of the best lessons of my mission. I don't know if I've ever seen a person more genuinely touched by the Plan that God has for us. It was awesome. - the sisters we stayed with threw a little party for me when we got back to the apartment that night, which was very cute of them. - I also gave out a Book of Mormon on my birthday, which was sweet! #bestgift - had another lesson with a woman from Ukraine who is really sweet and even reads the BOM on her own!  - ate a lot of naturgodis.  - met a guy on the tunnelbana who's mom was a witch, and we're meeting with him this week!  - ate waffles at Pablo's house yesterday. Some not so good: - Had to block a creepy guy on Facebook.  - had to live-translate our testimony meeting to English, which I am SO terrible at doin...
