Otto Paid a Visit

 Tjena!

This week, in all honesty, was a trial. It felt like every plan and every lesson we had fell through. It happens.

We did quite a bit of Facebook finding and contacting and such.

But among the dull, there were some huge miracles that we saw:
- A couple weeks ago we went door knocking, and gave a Book of Mormon to a guy at his doorstep. We asked if we could come back and talk more about it and he said that would be great! So Syster Welton and I met with him on Monday night--and he is SO prepared to learn about the Gospel. He had a ton of questions, and had already read the first couple chapters of the BOM. We went through both the Restoration AND the Plan of Salvation-- and every time we read a scripture, he would ask us for a pen and then underline the parts that he liked. It was awesome.
- We taught another school class at the church along with a member! We did a quick little lesson about the Restoration and then helped answer questions. It was really fun !
- We had a lesson with the family who's getting baptized yesterday, and went through what tithing is. It went super well! The mom of the family let us know that she's always liked to give, and how she KNOWS that God always gives us back more than we sacrifice for him. And that's the truth! God appreciates every effort we make, and blesses us for them.

We also:
- made chocolate chip cookies at the end of a hard day.
- had our English fast, where we went the entire week only speaking Swedish.
- had a fireside with Sister Michelle Craig via zoom ! That was cool. She talked about how we can see others with the love that Christ has. So that's been something I've been working on.
- Watched Big Hero 6 in Swedish as a mission after the English fast, and I'm pretty sure my humor is officially broken. I've been without media for a while now, and I was laughing way too hard for a children's movie.
- listened to a guy mansplain tectonic plates to us.
- Ate meatloaf wrapped in bacon, courtesy of a member family.
- Experienced the effects of "Otto," the name of the storm that came through in Southern Sweden. Somehow it's really funny that the storm had such a Swedish name, but I guess that checks out.

All in all, there's ALWAYS  miracles among the dull day-in and day-outs of life. I would encourage you all to look for them!

Have a nice week!

Posing as the depressed Statue on a depressing day.

Right after we got inside after almost being blown away by Mr. Otto.

Syster Welton got into BYU so I made her hold up the BYU "Y". I later realized that we were making the wrong hand signal, and that is, in fact, not the BYU "Y" and instead is a weird looking llama. Too late now.

The Semmel Burger at Burger King. Enough said.

Another day, another bus selfie.

End of an Era

Hej!  This past week has been great. As always, we've seen miracles. And weird things, too! But I'm just absolutely filled with gratitude to be a servant of the Lord. Especially this past week, for some reason. This week we: -had an awesome lesson with a young Father, who's just trying to mend his relationship with God. Very pure.  - taught our friend *Anna and her 18 year-old son about prayer.  - made breakfast and watched general conference with our members and our friends on Sunday morning. #swedishvåfflor  - gave out a Book of Mormon in Persian to a sweet old lady who tried to speak Persian to us for like 10 minutes.  - got to have a great lesson with our friend *Marianne, and she had a lot of great questions about conference.  - got to eat some homemade rulltårta with one of our friends and his family. Very cute.  - had in-person distriktsråd and the Elders made us lunch. It was like a finish version of baked macaroni and cheese.  - fi...

A fever and a new comp

Tjena! What a week. It was Kaos.  We: - ran around so that Syster Yoachum could say goodbye to everyone before leaving  - had hot chocolate and walnuts with our friend *Matt  - had transfers  - got sick **bonus points, I had a fever and felt AWFUL on transfer day so I stayed home at the apartment to sleep and break my fever before my new companion came to the area. #apostate **extra bonus points, my voice sounds like a grandma who has smoked for like 60 years - did a bunch of street contacting  - put our friend *Anna on date for baptism at the end of September!!! She's come to church 4 times now and she has such a pure soul. Love her.  My new companion is Syster Jaques, (pronounced like Jakes), and she's great! I think we'll have a fun transfer.  Yay! Have a good week everyone, and please enjoy the feeling of not being sick !  Syster Naatjes    Syster Jaques and I in the city hot chocolate and walnuts  the trio (eyes closed) Fika wi...

A Fortnight in Stockholm

Tjena!  This week went by pretty quickly. On Thursday we took the 5 hour train to Stockholm for Splits, and then came back the VERY next day. Another 5 hours. What a gem of a ride. But it was fun!  I got to split with Syster Layton, who is SUPER NICE. We taught a 10 year old boy who's getting baptized next Saturday, and he goes to a special elementary school for dancers. When we asked him for dancing advice, he told us, mid-stretch, "don't be afraid to do your thing."  Amen.  This week, me and Syster Welton: - were broke - picked up a weight set that my parents sent me in the mail💪 - taught *John about the restoration!  - taught a cute little family about the Word of Wisdom, and they took it INCREDIBLY well. Amazingly well.  - ate semlor! It's a seasonal pastry in Sweden, and it was pretty dang good! It's like a soft bun with marzipan and almond creme.  - met some new friends!  - got preached to by a mildly crazy lady. But it's okay, we lo...
